Today, we're excited to premiere the full album stream the LP, out this Friday, November 10th. The band features members of rock greats – Mark Shue in Guided by Voices and Beech Creeps, Nick Chiericozzi and Mark Perro in The Men, and Russell Hymowitz in Dream Police and Junk Boys, to name a few – resulting in a pile-driving, psychedelic collaboration that will lay you flat.
Chomper's debut LP Medicine Mountain is out November 10th. Today, we've got another sneak peek of the album via the opening track "Hideout 3D." Listen below and enjoy. We've also got a fresh song picks playlist put together by Chomper, streamable below on Spotify and Tidal, with an accompanying write-up by the band. In case you missed it last week, Mark Shue was interviewed on rad new site North of The Internet, saying of Chomper's process, "Instinct is a heavy power. Overthinking can get in the way." Chomper has a Brooklyn record release show planned for November 14th at Secret Project Robot with Drunken Foreigner Band, Weeping Icon, and Think Tank. The band will have special merch for...
Previously the solo project of Morgan Enos (Hollow Sunshine, Medium Mystic, Hheaven), this is Other Houses' confident debut as a full-fledged band, recorded with Californian players Adam Nash (guitar), Alex Nash (drums), and Ross Major (bass).
Fortune Selector is well-represented by its front cover, featuring a palm tree - a universal symbol of California - inverted. In fact, Enos formed the new Other Houses band and recorded Fortune Selector directly before relocating from California to New York....
Today we're excited to premiere the second track from Other Houses Iron Pier debut Fortune Selector,"Cats Know Me."
Per Morgan of Other Houses, "'Cats Know Me' is a duet about swallowing your pride and hanging with the pack when you’re the hayseed country mouse among the intimidatingly hip and urbane. It was also the culmination of the Fortune Selector sessions. Everyone really banded together on this one – we thought it was a wrap, and then our friend Taylor Belmore recorded her great vocal part at the last minute. Then we put in that descending Byrds riff you hear and it shot the whole thing through the roof. The character in this song is probably me, mixed with a couple...
Up Our Sleeves is Iron Pier's new blog feature focusing on the material construction and design of the vinyl records and other media we release on our label. We put a lot of time and attention into each release and in this hopefully regular column we're going to take a close look at, and showcase, the physical aspects of many of our releases.
Neaux's debut, Fell Off The Deep End, was originally released by Iron Pier on cassette in late 2016. In early 2017, we remastered the album and re-released it on vinyl and on digital.
The first press was released on two colorways: transparent electric blue vinyl with hot pink splatter in a run of 186...
We're excited to announce a new addition to the Iron Pier family:
Other Houses is the full-band power-pop project of Brooklyn, NY, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Morgan Enos. Think Guided By Voices meets early R.E.M. meets Elliott Smith. Their songs are melodic, concise, and subtly barbed. Onstage, Enos is joined by bassist Dave Lucas (Twiga) and drummer Stephen Lee Clark (Field Agent, Deafheaven.)
Check out Other Houses' past discography on Bandcamp, and watch out for more news on their debut release with Iron Pier soon. Other Houses will play NEAUX's record release show February 18 at Trans Pecos.
Fell Off The Deep End is the debut full-length from Neaux. Rich in atmosphere and songcraft, Fell Off The Deep End gives a nod to shoegaze, Sonic Youth, and Bl'ast in equal measure. The members - Sierra Kay (Versa Emerge), Nick Fit (Loss Leader, Trash Talk), Ryan Briggs (Have Heart), and Chris X - may have cut their teeth in varied projects, but Fell Off The Deep End's rewarding collision of worlds yields a captivating new sound. There's a weighty crunch to the sound that recalls 90's grunge and alt-rock, yet clear and expressive lead vocals and aggressive lyrical vulnerability ensures fans of Slowdive and PJ Harvey can find space in this music. It's the sound of restless emotional territory,...
